Plain tube specimens are not suitable.

Haemolysed specimens are not acceptable.

Diagnostic Use and Interpretation

Manganese is widely distributed in the environment and deficiency is uncommon.

Toxicity may occur through exposure in the workplace or through dietary sources. Elevated concentrations are associated with a Parkinsonian type syndrome and psychiatric disturbances.
