Reference Range: Normal

  • Results are reported as Normal, Deficient or Intermediate and an added comment if required.
  • A full quantitative assay for pyruvate kinase activity should be performed on any patient (and their family members) with a Deficient or Intermediate result. This is only done after discussion with the mediacal staff concerned.
  • If a result is deficient and a PK Assay is required, please contact the Special Haematology Laboratory ( Ext 22065) within 5 days
