Bone Marrow Transplant Donor Storage
Short Description : Indefinite storage for bone marrow transplant (BMT) donor specimens

Specimen Reception is occasionally asked to store bone marrow transplant (BMT) donor specimen long term. These specimens may be required at a later date for follow-up testing, in case the recipient develops complications. Specimens often come from international sources so a variety of tube types may be received.

The procedure outlined below is to be followed to ensure that Specimen Reception has comprehensive record of this storage. This record can then be used to review the storage requirements and contact the appropriate clinician.
