Serum / EDTA plasma obtained from all acute cases, diagnosed by positive IgM serology (in the absence of HAV vaccination in the preceding 12 weeks) or by detection of HAV by PCR/NAT.

Requires sample separation before sending away (please refer to the Laboratory Notes below).

The minimum volume of separated plasma or serum is 0.25 mL (250 uL).

Specimen Transport Instructions for Referring Laboratories

Transport requirements:

Specimen stability and transport
Serum/plasma/whole blood specimens should be at room temperature for same day transport. If >24h delay, then refrigerate at 4 0 C. If >1 week delay, specimen should be frozen.
