Thrombelastography

Test performed by: LabPLUS Point of Care Testing


Thrombelastography (TEG) testing must be arranged by special request through the POCT Team. It is only available Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1530.


Specimen Collection

Citrate

1.8 mL Citrate Blood (Always Required)

Heparin

4 mL Heparin Blood

A heparin tube is only required for TEG platelet mapping.

Unless otherwise specified, the test will utilise a global cartridge on the TEG 6s analyser. This includes:

Special Requirements:

Cartridge Tube Type Instructions Volume Stability
Global Citrated (Blue) Invert gently x5 Completely full 4 hours
Platelet Mapping/ADP Heparin (Green) Invert gently x5 Completely full 2 hours

Note: Avoid use of Lamson (pneumatic) tube for transporting specimens.
