Specimen Collection

SPECIMENS: Contact laboratory for details on specimen requirements if required.
For samples sent to LabPlus within the Auckland region:

specimens are collected into culture media optimally (sterile saline as a back-up). Transport to the laboratory at 4 degrees without delay :

Do not add formalin or other fixative .

- CSF , optimally tested within 1 hour of collection or collected into CSF preservative media (contact cell marker laboratory: ext.22061, 22075)

For samples sent to LabPlus from outside the Auckland region:

specimens are collected into culture media, do not add formalin or other fixative . Transport to the laboratory at 4 degrees without delay :

  • CSF , must be collected into CSF preservative media ( contact cell marker laboratory: 09 3074949 ext 22061, 22075)
