For samples sent to LabPlus from outside the Auckland region:
- Tested Monday - Friday 0800 - 1700
- Must be pre-arranged with cell marker staff. @ 3074949 extension 22061.
- Store at 4 degrees immediately after collection and transport samples at 4 degrees.
- Please provide additional 1 x EDTA blood sample for transport control. Transport at 4 degrees.

- Normal
- Abnormal
- Consistent with X-Linked Carrier status with % Normal, % Abnormal Neutrophils
Interpretation:
- For the diagnosis of Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD). CGD is a disorder caused by mutations in NADPH oxidase subunits of phagocytice cells (Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Monocytes), resulting in recurrent pyogenic infections.
NOTE:
- If prior Oxidative Burst assays (DHR) have not given a clear result, the Immunologist only may request an NBT test. The Immunologist must inform staff in Special Haematology on ext 22065 and they will organise a collection date.

Phlebotomy Staff: If the request form states:
"NBT slide test ? please contact Special Haem ext 22065 prior to collection"
, please call the Special Haematology staff, who should be expecting the patient, and they will meet you prior to the collection with the required slides.
This is the only situation where an EDTA sample is NOT collected for this test.
