Diagnostic Use and Interpretation

Prothrombin Time (PT) is the time in seconds required for a fibrin clot to form in a plasma sample after tissue thromboplastin and an optimal amount of calcium chloride have been added to the sample.

At LabPlus PT is used only for clinical Trials purpose.

Current reference range for Prothrombin is 12.0s-18.0s and the MNPT is 14.7s.

Reference ranges will be recalculated if the MNPT varies by more than 0.5s from the previous lot
