Test performed by: LabPLUS VIM Proteins

Specimen Collection

Samples need to be received in the laboratory within 1 hour of collection or spun and frozen within that time.

SST

3.5 mL SST Serum (Preferred)

Plain

4 mL Plain Serum
Reference Intervals
Units: mg/L
Age RangeEither Sex
All70 - 700

Turnaround Time: Within 5 weeks

Due to the rarity of requests for this assay, reagents are not kept in stock and will be ordered when a request is received.

Assay Method

Radial Immunodiffusion using a Binding Site kit.

Diagnostic Use and Interpretation

Factor H is a regulatory protein in the complement pathway. It may be decreased or absent as a result of mutations in the protein. It may also be decreased as a result of increased consumption or antibodies directed against factor H.
