This test is not available on a routine basis. Requests will be declined unless pre-arranged with a Labplus Chemical Pathologist.

Specimen Collection
Fasting samples preferred. The patient must fast overnight

Note however, non-fasting patients can be accepted - record the last time the patient ate on the form.

Specimen must be separated and frozen as soon as possible as Leptin has low sample stability unless frozen .

The sample needs to be centrifuged and the serum separated and frozen as soon as possible

Aliquot into 2x 0.5 mL aliquots and freeze

Transport to LabPlus
Send frozen aliquots

Stability
Leptin has low stability so must be frozen as soon as possible
