HLA-B27 Typing

Specimen:

1 x 10 mL CPD tube

  • Do not separate or refrigerate specimens.
  • Tissue Typing (CPDA) tubes are available on request from Out-Patient's Laboratory.
  • Specific volumes of blood to be collected on advice from NZBS-N, Tissue Typing Department.
  • Full clinical particulars and patient's race must be indicated on request form.

    Full Organ Transplant work up


    SPECIMEN:

    4 x 10 mL blood into CPDA tubes
    1 x 10 mL plain tube
    1 x 6 mL EDTA tube

  • Do not separate or refrigerate specimens.
  • Tissue Typing (CPDA) tubes are available on request from Out-Patient's Laboratory.
  • Specific volumes of blood to be collected on advice from NZBS-N, Tissue Typing Department.
  • Full clinical particulars and patient's race must be indicated on request form.
  • DIRECT MATCH (Transplant crossmatch - live related/unrelated):

    SPECIMEN:

    Recipient:

    4 x 10 mL blood into CPDA tubes
    1 x 10 mL plain tube


    Donor:

    4 x 10 mL blood into CPDA tubes
    1 x 10 mL plain tube

    DISEASE ASSOCIATION: (B27, coeliac, narcolepsy, B57)

    SPECIMEN:

    10 mL blood. CPDA tube.


    REFERENCE INTERVAL:

  • Approximately 8% of the NZ Caucasian population are HLA-B27 positive. The B27 antigen is not related to the normal population. The frequency of the antigen is dependent on the ethnic population.

    SPECIMEN:


    This analysis is performed once a month. The specimen must be received by 20th of each month, and must be fully labelled with FULL NAME, PATIENT NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, and DATE OF COLLECTION.
