A CD34 assay may be performed on harvest grafts from bone marrow, mobilised peripheral blood and cord blood, as part of the transplantation programme.
- Please transport samples at 4 degrees. Sample age limit for testing is 24 hours.
- Please advise the Cell Marker Lab that an urgent sample is being sent.
- Preliminary results are available by phone within 24 hours of receipt of specimen.
- Reporting time for final results may vary depending on the transplantation procedure being undertaken

- The CD34 assay is used to quantitate haematological progenitor and stem cells in peripheral blood, in response to mobilisation with chemotherapy and / or cytokines. It is also used to quantitate the total number of haematological progenitor and stem cells in collected harvest grafts sourced from mobilised peripheral blood, bone marrow and cord blood.
