Used to differentiate a raised prothrombin ratio due to vitamin K deficiency/warfarin therapy from a coagulation protein deficiency.

Interpretation

Raised PR, normal Fibrinogen,  normal Echis ratio:    Vitamin K deficiency, Single or Combined Factor VII Deficiency/Factor X Deficiency/Factor V Deficiency.

Raised PR, normal Fibrinogen, raised Echis ratio:     Factor II Deficiency acquired (liver disease) or congenital..
