Lymphocyte function may be determined by a number of in vitro and in vivo tests. The options are:

 


Specimen Collection


Heparin4 mL Heparin Blood

Dark green top Heparin tubes are required ,

light green top PST Heparin tubes(containing gel) are NOT suitable.

 

For samples collected outside of the Auckland region:

Sample collection as above.     Transport at room temperature.


Reference Intervals

IN VITRO FUNCTIONAL ASSAYS:

 

 The proliferative response to non-specific mitogens (PHA, PWM, CON A and  T3) and specific antigens (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Candida) can be measured.

 

Stimulation Index

Mitogens: Normal       > 5.0

Antigens: Normal        > 3.0
